Company Presentations
Companies selected to present at BIO VentureForum East 2007 will be primarily privately-held companies from the life science sector. Broadly defined, this includes products relating to biotechnology (e.g. genomics, proteomics, drug discovery and development), medical devices, bioinformatics, as well as other related technologies. Companies encouraged to apply include seed, early-stage, late-stage, and pre-IPO. The typical company will be in the A/B round of funding. Public firms will be permitted to apply and present on a space available basis. Typically the goal for a public firm would be for PIPEs, looking for private funding for a subsidiary spin-off, or approaching the VC community for acquisition targets.
Presenting companies will be selected by a committee composed of qualified venture capitalists serving on the conference's Advisory Board. The 7 criteria by which each application will be evaluated and scored include: market opportunity, partnerships, business platform, competitive advantages, intellectual property, exit strategy and the quality and experience of senior management. Each of these criteria should be disclosed in the application, which represents the corporate profile of the company. It is important to be as thorough and complete as possible when filling out your application.
Companies that have not previously participated in a CEO Executive Presentation Workshop are expected to attend one on Monday June 18, prior to the conference. This is an intensive, one-day training session aimed at helping presenting CEOs to refine and hone both their formal presentation and their presentation skills. There is no cost for presenters to attend, but representatives of firms that have not yet been selected can also attend for a minimal fee. More information about dates and schedule can be found here .
The structure of the venture forum conference in June will promote numerous networking opportunities for participating companies. There will be a welcome reception on June 18, 2007, organized breakfasts, luncheons and a gala reception on June 19, 2007. All of these activities are included in the registration fee along with reserved space for presenting companies to meet with VCs following presentations. This structure maximizes visibility and interaction.
